At just 7 months old, Isabella Arna was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia on July 19, 2012. She immediately began treatment in her fight against cancer. Between packed red blood cells, platelets and intravenous immunoglobulin transfusions, Isabella received over 30 transfusions.

“It was reassuring knowing a simple transfusion could restore Isabella's health to a level that was optimal for her despite her diagnosis,” said her mother Julia Arna. “The blood transfusions helped limit the risks she faced so she could defeat cancer.” Isabella was merely a baby when she was diagnosed with leukemia, and as such, was very fragile and susceptible to simple infections and anemia. “Life is very short,” said Arna. “And, the opportunity to have an impact on another person's life beyond your immediate family doesn't always present itself, with the exception of being a blood donor.” Isabella went into remission in September 2012 and completed treatment July 16, 2014. She has returned to good health and eagerly a waits her fifth birthday on Nov. 30. “My daughter is a leukemia survivor,” said Arna. “To honor her, the numerous blood donors and the entire medical staff that saved her, I will donate for the rest of my life.
